Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composites filled with glass beads were prepared by hot pressing. The effects of glass bead content on the mechanical properties and hardness of the composites were investigated by universal material testing machine and Rockwell hardness tester. X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and static thermomechanical analysis (TMA) were carried out The influence of glass bead content on Vicat softening temperature of composites was investigated by hot deformation and Vicat temperature tester. The surface morphology of glass bead content on the friction and wear resistance of composites was investigated by high-speed ring block wear tester and self-made mortar wear water bath test device, and the wear mechanism was analyzed. The results show that the hardness, microcapsule softening temperature, melting point and glass transition temperature of the composites can be effectively improved by filling and strengthening the coupling glass beads in UHMWPE system, so as to reduce the friction coefficient and wear of the composites. The Vicat softening temperature can be increased by 12.5%, while the wear quality can be reduced by 62%. When the content of glass bead is between 5% and 20%, the mechanical properties of the material decrease with the increase of glass bead content.
